Indonesian airplane missing with 102 people onboard

A Boeing 737-400 airplane from Indonesia's Adam Air with 102 people on board went missing Monday en route to Manado, North Sulawesi.

Flight KI-754 took off from Surabaya's Juanda Airport at 12:59 local time (0559 GMT) and was scheduled to land at about 15:07 ( 0807 GMT).

"Because of its limited fuel, the plane can just fly four hours. So, if it took off at 1 p.m., I am now worried about the lives of passengers on board," Iksan Tatang, director general of air traffic, was quoted by leading website detik.com as saying.

"We have contacted airports near the position where the plane lost connection with ground, but didn't get any information about the plane," he said.

The plane was carrying 85 adult passengers, 11 children with four of them under five years old. There were six crew including two pilots on the plane.
