A Boeing 737-300 plane of the China Eastern Airlines suffered tyre burst of all its four undercarriage wheels while landing Tuesday afternoon in Shanghai Hongqiao Airport.

The aircraft took off at 12:55 p.m. Tuesday at Liuting Airport in Qingdao, a port city in east China's Shandong Province, and arrived at the Shanghai airport at 2:09 p.m.

Unfortunately, the four tyres burst. Bumping on the runway, the plane managed to make a successful landing, with no casualties reported, sources with the airport said.

Passengers and their luggage were evacuated from the plane by 2:40 p.m. The airport was closed while the accident was being handled.

During the suspension, some passenger planes turned to land at the Pudong Airport as an alternative, and some outbound travelers had to stay at the Hongqiao Airport for more than four hours.

After the Boeing aircraft was dragged away, the airport resumed normal operation at 6:45 p.m., the airport sources said.
