Shanghai port world's busiest for second year

The cargo turnover at Shanghai port hit 537 million tons in 2006 and the port handled 21.71 million TEU (twenty-foot container equivalent units) last year, up 21.2 percent and 20.1 percent from 2005 respectively, according to the Shanghai Port Administration.

Shanghai port replaced Singapore port as the largest port in terms of total cargo handling capacity in 2006.
