Soldiers selected from the Front for the Liberation of the Enclave of Cabinda (FLEC), a guerilla organization from Angola's northern province of Cabinda, joined the Angolan Armed Forces and the National Police Saturday.

Those who were not selected will be demobilized and put into retirement, reported Angola Press Agency ANGOP.

Cabinda, which produces 60 percent of Angola's oil, is a sliver of land sandwiched between Congo Brazzaville and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

An armed conflict for secession led by the FLEC has occurred in the territory since Angola's independence in In 2004, FLEC and other organizations set up the Cabinda Forum for Dialogue to enter into dialogue with the Angolan central government for peace in Cabinda.
