Chinese Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan met a senior defense officer from Mongolia on Monday.

"China values its ties with Mongolia and would like to lift the relationship to a new high," Cao told M. Borbaatar, visiting state secretary of Mongolian Defense Ministry.

Borbaatar said the two armed forces have conducted fruitful exchange of visits and cooperation in personnel training.

He expressed the hope that the two sides could expand relations in the fields of defense, international peace-keeping, regional cooperation and anti-terrorism.

Borbaatar and his party were here for the second Sino-Mongolian defense affairs consultation. Besides the Chinese capital, they will also visit China's southernmost province Hainan during the five-day stay.
