China hopes France's Royal and her party can contribute to ties

China hopes the French Socialist Party can continuously contribute to the all-round strategic partnership between the two countries, Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan told the party's head and presidential candidate Segolene Royal in Beijing Sunday afternoon.

China-France relations have witnessed smooth growth since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1964, Tang said, noting that the cooperation between the two sides, especially in recent years, is "comprehensive and fruitful".

"China would like to work with France to deepen mutual understanding and political and strategic dialogue, and broaden cooperation for mutual-benefit," Tang said.

Royal said that France-China friendly cooperation satisfies common interests of both and benefits the world's peace, stability and development.

She said the French Socialist Party would like to make efforts to push forward further cooperation between the two countries.

Royal, who is seeking to become France's first-ever woman president, started her four-day China visit on Saturday.
