font size

The Economic Development and Labor Bureau of Hong Kong announced Wednesday that the third air cargo terminal at the Hong Kong International Airport was expected to be completed by 2011.

Secretary for Economic Development and Labor of Hong Kong Stephen Ip said that Hong Kong's air cargo capacity will reach 800 tons by the year of 2025, which will surpass the cargo handling ability of the two existing terminals.

Ip said, last year, Hong Kong's air cargo capacity was more than 250 tons and he expected the third terminal can help manage an extra 250 tons of air cargoes.

The construction of the third terminal, which was expected to be completed for operation in 2011, can help the city to boost the air cargo managing power and to enjoy further business opportunities that bring along by it, added Ip.
