The Indonesian government has planned to create 15 million jobs in five years with most of the jobs being prepared in villages, an official said Wednesday.

Coordinating Minister for Social Welfare Aburizal Bakrie said the government had allocated fund of 4.43 trillion rupiah (492 million U.S. dollars) this year to create jobs for people.

"The fund, taken from the state budget, provincial and regency/ mayoralty budgets, will be used to develop 33,500 villages in 33 regencies in 33 provinces," he was quoted by the country's major newspaper The Jakarta Post's website as saying.
