The service sector has generated most of the newly-emerging occupations in China in a new list of professions issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security on Thursday.
The ministry has updated the list of newly-emerging occupations, adding ten professions, including jewellery and exhibition designer and sign language interpreter.
The new list also involved quality inspectors of synthetic materials and interior designers, a ministry official said.
Sign language interpreters and care workers for orphans and disabled children were urgently needed to promote the nation's charity and social welfare sectors, he said.
The recognition of the new occupations would guide the development of occupational education and training.
This is the eighth time that China has added new occupations to the standard occupation list, which has brought the number of new occupations to 84 since it was started in 2004.
The ministry is considering adding auto glazier and environmental art designer to the list.
