Vietnam's officially becoming the 150th member of the World Trade Organization (WTO) on Thursday is a significant event,"marking its broad, deep and comprehensive integration into the global trading system,"a spokesman said in Hanoi on Thursday.
Nov. 11 also marks Vietnam's starting to realize its WTO commitments, enjoy full benefits of a member, and have an equal role in the organization, Le Dung, spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at a press briefing.
The full membership will help Vietnam boost export of goods and services, lure more partners and foreign direct investment, and deal with potential trade disputes under the WTO mechanism, he said, adding that local ministries and sectors, especially enterprises must seize opportunities and overcome challenges posed by the integration.
Vietnam will actively make contribution to building up a multilateral trading system in an effective, equal and win-win manner, he said.
