China sincerely hopes Bangladesh to maintain peace, stability and development, said Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao in Beijing on Friday.

As a friendly neighbor of Bangladesh, China very concerns about the situation in the south Asian country, and sincerely hopes that relevant parties will take into consideration the interests of the nation and its people and properly handle their disputes, said Liu in response to a press query about the Bangladeshi situation.

Bangladesh President Iajuddin Ahmed late on Thursday night resigned from the post of Chief Advisor of caretaker government and promised to form a new council of advisors to hold a credible election within the shortest possible time.
