Number of package tourists in Macao sees rise in November

Macao recorded 289,626 package tourist arrivals in November, a year-on-year rise of 0.2 percent, according to official statistics issued on Friday.

The figures from the government-run Statistics and Census Service (SCS) showed that the majority of package visitors came in the month from the Chinese mainland (214,504), Hong Kong (21,720) and Southeast Asian countries (13,637).

The SCS statistics also showed that the number of Macao's hotel rooms reached 12,693 at the end of November, up 17.2 percent over the same month of 2005.

Hotel guests accounted for 41.4 percent of the total number of tourists in the first 11 months of 2006, according to the statistics.
