Armed robbers loot bank car in Afghan capital

Some 15 armed men robbed money from the car of a foreign bank in the Afghan capital Kabul, bank executive said.

"The armed robbers intercepted the van of Standard Chartered bank in Kabul Thursday and took away the money from it," Joseph Silvanus, Country Chief Executive Officer of the bank said Saturday.

He did not give more details on the cash taken away but added Afghan police were trying to chase the robbers.

Meantime, police declined to make comment when contacted.

At least fourth times the armed robbers have looted money from the cars of foreign banks in the Afghan capital over the past two years.
