Brussels Motor show opens
font size

The 85th Brussels Motor show officially opened on Saturday.

The organizers of the motor show expect around 300,000 people to visit the Heizel Exhibition Center in Brussels suburb to see the show during the coming week.

On Saturday, Belgian Transport Minister Renaat Landuyt inaugurated the show.

This year's Motor Show is paying special attention to utility vehicles, motorbikes, light aircraft and helicopters. More space is also being given over to the increasingly popular 4x4.

However, not everyone is happy with the increasing popularity of off-road vehicles. Environmentalists feel that they are " wasteful and unsafe" and they staged a small-scale protest outside the show, local news website Flandersnews.be reported.

The Motor Show is open to the public from until Sunday 21 January.
