Afghan Interior Ministry has replaced the chief of Kabul police, said a spokesman Sunday.
"The Kabul police chief Amanullah Gazar has been replaced by General Asmatullah Daulatzai," Interior Ministry spokesman Zamarai Bashari told Xinhua.
The government would announce Gazar's new post in the future, he said.
Daulatzai has served as police chief of Kandahar, a former stronghold of Taliban in southern Afghanistan.
The replacement was part of reforms in the police to improve law and order in the country, said the spokesman.
A number of more police chiefs in the provinces have also been replaced, Bashari added.
Though law and order has been improved and the number of terrorist attacks has dropped recently in the capital, complaints are heard on criminal activities.
Some 15 armed men robbed money from the car of Standard Chartered bank in Kabul on Thursday.
