font size

Nepali Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala Monday expressed appreciation for China's support of Nepal's peace process.

Prime Minister Koirala made the remarks while meeting here with a visiting Chinese delegation led by Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Li Tieying.

Koirala spoke highly of the friendly ties between Nepal and China, saying China has long been providing aid to Nepal's development and positively contributing to Nepal's peace progress.

Koirala said Nepal was glad to see China's achievement in economy development, and wished China to be prosperous. He said he hoped Nepal might benefit from China's development.

During the meeting, the Nepali Prime Minister assured the Chinese delegation of Nepal's adherence to the one China policy; reaffirmed Nepal's stance that Taiwan and Tibet are inalienable parts of China; and Nepal would never allow external forces to engage in anti-China activities on Nepal's territory.

For his part, Li Tieying said China and Nepal are friendly neighbors. China highly appreciated Nepal's support to China's policies on Tibet, Taiwan and human rights.

Li said the Chinese government was promoting friendly and peaceful friendship with its neighbors, and China was willing to see the success of Nepal's related parties' efforts to achieve peace, stability and development.

The delegation arrived in Kathmandu on Saturday for a four-day visit to Nepal.
