China hopes to work closely with Belarus to expand bilateral trade cooperation, said State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan in Beijing Friday.

Tang made the remarks when meeting with Zenon Kuzmich Lomat, president of State Control Commission of Belarus.

This year marks the 15th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Belarus. Tang said he hopes the two make joint efforts to consolidate traditional friendship, deepen political trust and push bilateral ties to a new level.

Belarus regards China as an important cooperation partner, Lomat said, adding his country is ready to join hands with China to expand bilateral trade and cement cooperation in diversified areas such as economy and technology.

Lomat is here to attend a China-Belarus economic and trade meeting as guest of the Ministry of Commerce.
