Efforts to find the wreckage of Indonesia's Adam Air plane that went missing during a flight from Java to North Sulawesi Jan.1 had not yielded any positive results, said Antara News Agency on Sunday.

Efforts to find the plane wreckage were continuing with the focus on the sea with security personnel stationed in the areas concerned taking an active part in the search, the news agency quoted Air Commodore Eddy Suyanto, coordinator of the Search and Rescue Mission, as saying.

"I received a telephone call from Pinrang district in South Sulawesi that more fragments of a plane were found, such as a steering device, but the National Committee for Flight Safety still has to examine them," he said at a press conference in Makassar, capital of South Sulawesi province, on Saturday.

Suyanto said an U.S. ship named Mary Sears was now in waters off Majene district in West Sulawesi to study metal objects detected on the sea bed.

"The job is not easy and will take around 10 hours to finish," he said.

The ship was carrying a Towed Pinker Locator to identify the metal objects more precisely. The metal objects were first spotted by the sonar device of an Indonesian naval vessel. He said the results of the Mary Sears' work were expected to be known only by Monday.
