Chinese military to strengthen political education of soldiers

The Chinese military is to strengthen the ideological and political education of soldiers, according to new education guidelines approved by the Central Military Commission.

The 10-chapter guidelines, issued by the General Political Department of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), sets the goals, principles, contents of the education.

It stresses that ideological and political education should be based on practice and activities, and should note the characteristics of all sorts of soldiers, officers and military students.

The guidelines was crucial for the practice of ruling the army by law, said an official with the department, adding that the draft of the guidelines were completed on a wide range of suggestions from Party committees and political departments.
