State Councilor stresses research on laws
font size

Chinese State Councilor Zhou Yongkang on Monday called for better legal research so as to uphold the rule of law and provide a legal basis for the construction of a harmonious society.

At a meeting honoring China's ten most excellent young jurists, Zhou urged law experts around the country to create a legal framework adapted to China's circumstances.

"Research on the legal system should be infused with the latest information and serve the overall situation of China's reform and development and the building of a harmonious society," he said.

Law experts should focus their studies on prominent problems in legislation and law enforcement and make an active contribution to the country's prosperity, lasting stability and peace, he said.
