A powerful bomb planted near a restaurant went off Monday night in Thailand's southern border province Narathiwat, injuring at least six people, media reported.
The explosive, hidden in a flowerpot near the entrance of the Blue Corner restaurant situated in Narathiwat's provincial seat, went off at 7:30 p.m. (0030GMT) at the dining peak hour, according to news network The Nation.
The blast injured four women, one of whom was the cook at the restaurant, and two men.
The report quoted police as saying that the bomb was believed to be set off remotely by a mobile phone.
For three years, a renewed round of insurgency-related violence has havocked Thailand's deep south, comprising the three southernmost provinces Narathiwat, Yala and Pattani, with almost daily attacks such as bombings, shootings and arsons, killing nearly 2,000 people.
