font size

This year is the 15th anniversary of the establishment of Sino-ROK diplomatic relations, and China has replaced Japan as the largest exporter to South Korea, taking up the mantle that Japan has worn for 30 years, said the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA).

When diplomatic relations between China and South Korea were first established in 1992, China was the fifth largest exporter to South Korea, but became the third and second largest in 2003 and 2004 respectively. In August last year, according to monthly trade statistics, China for the first time was the largest exporting nation to South Korea.

The growth rate of Japanese export to South Korea is than 10 percent, but the growth rate of Chinese export remains consistently above 20 percent.
