Toyota Indonesia to export more than double vehiclesJapanese auto giant Toyota Motor Corp. targets a 120.5 percent surge in export sales this year from its Indonesian plants this year, aiming markets largely in Asia and the Middle East. Local subsidiary PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) has set export sales target at 36,080 units in the year, against last year's 16,363 units, leading economic daily Bisnis Indonesia reported Friday. The export comprises mainly three models, multi-purpose vehicleInnova and Avanza and sport-utility vehicle Fortuner. Avanza will remain the backbone of the export with a new export figure set at 21,338 units, against 9,772 units sold last year, an executive with the company was quoted as saying. Fortuner, whose export began only in November, is expected to book record export sales of 8,324 units this year from a mere 675 units in 2006. The main destination markets include Thailand, Brunei, Nepal, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Jordan, Bahrain, Qatar, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, South Africa and Egypt.
