UN chief says willing to visit DPRK on nuclear issue

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon said on Friday that he was willing to travel to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to promote a solution to the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula.

In an interview with France 24 television on Friday night, Ban said "I am prepared to travel to Pyongyang if necessary."

But he said at this time, he hoped to help the six-party talks make headway.

The six-party talks, which have been repeatedly suspended, involve China, the United States, DPRK, Japan, Russia and South Korea.
