A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) left Beijing Saturday evening for India to attend an international conference on Gandhian Philosophy.

Invited by the Indian National Congress, Liu Hongcai, deputy head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, is to attend the meeting on "Peace, Non-violence and Empowerment: Gandhian Philosophy in the 21st Century", on behalf of the CPC.
