Two cities in the southern Nepal plain were imposed curfew on Sunday, according to local media reports.

In Janakpur of Dhahusa district, some 130 km to capital Kathmandu, the district administration set the curfew from 8 a.m. local time (0215 GMT) to 5 p.m. local time (1115 GMT), the reports said, adding that in Kalaiya municipality of Bara district, some 80 kilometers south to Kathmandu, curfew as clamped from 8 a.m. ( 0215 GMT) to 5 p.m. (1115 GMT).

However, situations in Birgunj, Lahan and Biratnagar which once were under curfews are reported to have improved.

The violent demonstrations led by Madhesi People's Rights Forum 's (MPRF, also called Madhesi Janadhikar Forum) began on Jan. 19. The Forum claimed that one of its members was shot dead by a cadre of the Communist Party of Nepal (formerly known as guerrilla). MPRF later collided with policemen, which rendered five people's death.
