Romania approves 12,000 labor permits for foreigners in 2007

The Romanian Government approved for this year the issuance of 12,000 labor permits for foreigners, stated the Minister of Labor, Social Solidarity and Family, Gheorghe Barbu, on Saturday, in Deva in middle west Romania.

"When we speak about 10,000-12,000 jobs for foreigners, compared to 4.7 million Romanian employees, we are not facing a personnel crisis. It is just the need of labor force in certain zones," emphasized the Labor Minister.

Gheorghe Barbu also added that, last year, 10,000 labor permits for foreigners were approved and only 8,000 such documents were actually issued. Of them, 1,200 were released for Turkish citizens and 800 for Chinese ones.

The minister said on Romania's labor market, there is a deficit of labor force in the field of construction. He urged employers " to wisely manage human capital" to meet competition.
