    China's fastest train on track

    A CRH (China Railway High-speed) bullet train leaves from Shanghai for Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu Province, Jan. 28, 2007. The new China-made train, which can travel at 250 kilometers per hour, made debut on the Shanghai-Hangzhou route Sunday. The train is expected to operate on test runs on the Shanghai-Beijing route during the coming Spring Festival holidays when there is sharp rise in demand for transportation.

    Intestine transplant survivor gets married

    Yang Feng, the first Chinese alive who received a small intestine transplant works beside a photo of him taken before the operation at a hospital in Xi'an, northwest China's Shaanxi Province January 27. Yang has lived eight years since the transplant, setting a record in Asia, and got married on Saturday.

    U.S. helicopter shot down, two killed in Iraq

A U.S. military helicopter crashed on Sunday in a combat operation near southern Iraqi city of Najaf, killing two U.S. soldiers on board, the U.S. military confirmed in a statement.

    Idiotarod in Alaska

    Swiss' Federer returns a shot during in the men's final match at the Australian Open tennis tournament in Melbourne, Australia, Jan. 28, 2007. The win of 7-6 (7-2), 6-4, 6-4 meant that Federer won the Australian Open title without dropping a set in seven matches.

    12 killed as Pakistani train passengers electrocuted

    At least 12 people were electrocuted while scores of others injured when people sitting on roof of a crowded passenger train were hit by an overhead power line on Sunday in southern Pakistani city of Shikarpur, the private Geo TV reported.
