China says treaty best channel to prevent arms races in space
font size

China on Tuesday said the signing of an international treaty is the best channel to prevent arms race in space.

"To sign a relevant international legal document is the best channel to prevent the weaponization of space and any arms race in space," said Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu in response to questions concerning China's recent space experiment.

China and Russia have submitted many working documents to Conference on Disarmament in Geneva and won support from many countries, said Jiang.

China has always supported the peaceful use of space and opposed the weaponization of space and any arms race in space, she said.
