Kong Fanli, deputy director of Shandong Provincial Commission of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, has stood trial on charges of accepting bribes.
A statement from the Intermediate People's Court of Tai'an, a city in eastern Shandong Province, said the court held the hearing on Monday, but failed to reach a verdict. The result of the trial will be announced at a later date, it said.
Kong, 58, and a native of Qufu, also in the province, was appointed deputy director of Shandong Provincial Commission of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation in June 2000.
Public prosecutors alleged that from October 2002 to January 2006, Kong took advantage of his position by accepting bribes equivalent to 1.07 million yuan (about 133,544 U.S. dollars) from 15 organizations and individuals.
Kong was detained on August 4, 2006 and formally arrested on August 18.
