HKSAR CE voting time extended

The Electoral Affairs Commission of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) announced Wednesday that the time for the first round of voting in the third- term Chief Executive of HKSAR election will be extended to two hours.

The time for the first round of voting will last from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., in the case of a contested election, the commission said. These will also be the polling hours if the election is uncontested.

Polling will be held on March 25 at AsiaWorld-Expo.

If it is a contested election, more than one round of voting may be required if none of the candidates obtains an absolute majority of valid votes. The first round of voting will start at 9 a.m. If it is an uncontested election, there will be one round of voting only on March 25, which will start at 9 a.m.

Times for the second and third rounds of voting, which will be conducted in the case of a contested election, remain unchanged, the commission said.
