Indonesia's annual export for the first time ever hit 100 billion U.S. dollars in 2006, according to the government data released in Jakarta Thursday.

The export grew by 17.55 percent year on year to 100.69 billion dollars from 85.66 billion, reported the Central Statistics Agency. The 2006 figure comprises 79.5 billion dollars of non-oil export and 21.19 billion dollars of oil and gas export.

Japan was the largest non-oil export destination in 2006 with 12.2 billion dollars (15.35 percent), trailed by the United States with 10.66 billion (1.41 percent) and Singapore with 7.81 billion (9.82 percent).

The country's import rose by 5.85 percent to 61.08 billion dollars in 2006 from 57.7 billion a year earlier, with China surpassing Japan to become the largest supplier, according to the report.

From Indonesia's total non-oil import of 42. billion dollars in 2006, non-oil import from China amounted to 5.5 billion dollars (13.07 percent).

Japan, the United States and Singapore trailed behind with 5.48 billion dollars (13.01 percent), 3.97 billion dollars (9.44 percent) and 3.7 billion dollars (8.8 percent), respectively.
