Chinese Ministry of Commerce shows concern over engineer's killing in Kenya
font size

China's Ministry of Commerce said Thursday it will closely follow Kenya's investigation into the murder of a Chinese engineer who was shot to death in the port city of Mombasa.

The ministry will coordinate with the Chinese embassy in Kenya which is taking all necessary actions to protect the security of Chinese personnel there, it said in a statement.

On Tuesday morning, engineers employed by the China Road and Bridge Corporation working on a road-building project outside Mombasa were robbed by gunmen, with one killed and another wounded during the attack.

The Ministry of Commerce has asked the China Road and Bridge Corporation to enhance security measures.
