IMF calls for faster Central American integration to promote investmentThe president of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Rodrigo Rato Friday called on Central American countries to accelerate their integration process in order to foment more foreign direct investment. Speaking at a forum on investment in Central America, Rato said Central American nations should push forward the implementation of the free trade accord between those countries and the United States in order to deepen free trade and the integration of the region. The Central American countries should take measures to create a good investment climate, including preserving a stable economy, lowering the inflation rate, reducing financial risks and enhancing the education level, to foment more investment, said Rato.
