Iranians in Nepal for disaster lessons

A 33-member delegation from Iran has arrived in Kathmandu to study Nepal's efforts to combat possible earthquake-related disasters, local newspaper The Himalayan Times reported on Sunday.

The delegation consists of officials from Iran's Health Ministry, Housing Department, engineers' association and the United Nations Development Project (UNDP).

The members have started meeting officials from Nepal's government offices and non-government organizations (NGOs) to learn about the country's earthquake technologies, according to Nepal's National Society for Earthquake Technology.

The delegation would also study earthquake security programs, masonry training, disaster management training on community level and other organization's efforts.

Iran, like Nepal, is also a country highly prone to earthquakes.
