Incumbent Hong Kong Chief Executive Donald Tsang Yam-kuen said here Sunday he had so far already got nominations from 450 Election Committee members in support for his campaign for election of the third term of chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).
Speaking to reporters after a meeting with more than 100 Election Committee members from the social services, labor, religious, cultural and political sectors, Tsang said he had "a very good exchange" with the members.
Tsang told the media that he explained his election platform to the members in the meeting, especially on the political development in Hong Kong.
"As of today, I have received a total of roughly about 450 nominations in support for my campaign for election of chief executive," Tsang said.
Tsang announced on Feb. 1 that he is to stand for another term as chief executive.
Nominations for the election of the third-term HKSAR chief executive will be open from Feb. 14 to March 1. Those who win nominations from at least 100 Election Committee members are eligible to stand.
The Election Committee is composed of 800 members from various sectors.
