A man who tried to use detonators to rob a Agricultural Bank of China office in northeast China's Liaoning Province has been arrested, local authorities said on Wednesday.

Zhang Peng, 26, a farmer of Wanyuandian Town confessed to police that he caused two small explosions in the ABC's Lingyuan Branch office in Wanyuandian Town around 9 a.m. on Saturday in an attempted bank robbery.

When three clerks in the office noticed the man was carrying detonators they grabbed the branch's money bags and hid in another part of the office. Four minutes later they heard two small explosions.

There were no clients in the bank and the blasts caused no casualties nor was any cash taken. The office counter was damaged.

The bank office resumed business on Tuesday.
