National Grand Theater to reopen in July

The fencing around the National Grand Theater will all be removed before May 1st, allowing for the first time a full view of the culture and leisure square that has been built. Beijing citizens and tourists may then enter the square, and walk close to the National Grand Theater on the lake side. The National Grand Theater itself will reopen in July.

According to the "THE FIRST" newspaper, there are more than 1500 workers currently decorating the inside of the National Grand Theater. Most of the decorating of the main concert hall �C which can hold an audience of over 2000 �C has been completed. A few workers are installing the stage floor. After this is done, German experts will test the organ inside the concert hall.

The lake surrounding the ellipsoid shell covers an area of 35,500 square meters. It will begin to fill with water before May Day. From March, workers will begin planting trees in the north square of the National Grand Theater.
