GDP per capita in Shanghai over US$7,000

The per capita GDP in Shanghai is over US$7,000, according to a news conference held by the Information Office of Shanghai Municipal Government on February 7, 2007.

Pan Jianxin, director general of the Shanghai Statistical Bureau, said at the conference that Shanghai's GDP per capita in 2006 was 57,310 yuan (US$7,189), according to the accounting methods used by the National Statistics Bureau, which take all permanent residents living in Shanghai for a minimum of half a year into consideration.

According to international standards on statistics, GDP per capita in Shanghai in 2006 was 59,710 yuan (US$7,490), and takes into consideration all citizens living in Shanghai for a year or more.
