Zhong Wen was elected chairman of the Hainan provincial committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) at the fifth plenary session of the fourth Hainan CPPCC Provincial Committee on Thursday.
Zhong, 61, was formerly vice chairman of the standing committee of the Hainan Provincial People's Congress.
A native of Dongfang County in Hainan, Zhong joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 1971. He had worked in state-owned farms in the southernmost island province by July, 1986.
He became the Party secretary of Sanya city in 1993 and has served as a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee since 1997.
