4 policemen killed by Taliban militants in southern Afghanistan
font size

Taliban militants killed four policemen in Kandahar province in southern Afghanistan, provincial police chief Asmatullah Alizai told Xinhua on Saturday.

The militants ambushed a police convoy in Mushan village of Panjwai district on Friday night, killing four policemen and injuring three others, Alizai said.

A police vehicle was damaged in the conflict, he added.

Alizai said it was unknown whether there were casualties on the Taliban side.

Kandahar has been a hotbed of Taliban militants, who clash with foreign and Afghan forces frequently.

Due to rising Taliban-linked violence, over 300 people, mostly Taliban militants, have been killed in Afghanistan this year.
