Chairman of Madhesi People's Rights Forum (MPRF) Upendra Yadav on Saturday ruled out any talks with the government until the government carries out its earlier demand to relieve Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula from his responsibility, local newspaper The Himalayan Times reported Sunday.
"Talks cannot start until and unless the government meets our demands. Sitaula must resign and compensation must be given to the affected," Yadav said while speaking at a function in the capital.
On Friday, talks with the MPRF scheduled to take place at the Peace Secretariat were put off after MPRF leaders asked for neutral place for the talks and also demanded resignation of Sitaula, a government source said.
On Wednesday night, Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, in his address to the nation, assured that the government would provide free medical treatment to the injured people.
Violent demonstrations, mainly led by MPRF since Jan. 19, have caused more than 20 people's death. Many Terai towns witnessed curfews, strikes and widespread vandalism of public and private property in the unrest since then.
Madhesi people are always referred to people with Indian origin, mainly living in southern Nepal's Terai plains.
