Chinese shares opened slightly slower on Monday as the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index opened at 2,729.84 points, down by 0.55 points, or 0.02 percent.

The index, which tracks both the yuan-denominated A shares and hard-currency B shares traded on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, closed at 2,730.39 points on Friday.
