Citizens back up Spring Festival as cultural heritage

Ten thousand Nanjing citizens in eastern China's Jiangsu province sign their names on a petition to support the proposal of listing the Spring Festival as a World Cultural Heritage on Sunday, February 11, 2007. Earlier, a folklore expert at Nanjing University reportedly suggested the government to apply for the heritage for the Chinese lunar New Year, hoping to prevent the festive atmosphere from fizzling out.
