Philippine stocks close lower

Philippine stock prices Monday closed lower on profit-taking in select blue chips as the market consolidated in the absence of fresh leads, dealers said.

The main composite index was down 11.65 points or 0.36 percent at 3,234.16, after moving between 3,204.85 and 3,245.81.

The broader all-share index fell 12.09 points to 2,038.89.

Losers led gainers 56 to 50, while 54 stocks ended unchanged.

Volume was 2.8 billion shares worth 3.8 billion pesos (78.67 million U.S. dollars).
