China Geological Survey says it has finished mapping virgin territory on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. On a scale of 1:250,000, the map marks the completion of the mapping of the Chinese mainland.
A total of 340 million yuan was invested in the project, in which topographers mapped 1.52 million square kilometers. The projected kicked off in 1999.
Achievements have been made in the latest round of land and resource surveying, which began seven years ago.
A total of 110 subdivision maps on a scale of 1:250,000 have been completed. These will be instrumental in resource exploration, land layout, environmental protection, key project planning and construction, as well as scientific research in geology.
