Joint document likely to be adpoted Tuesday, says ROK delegation official

An official with delegation of the Republic of Korea (ROK) to the six-party talks said that a joint document is likely to be adopted on Tuesday in Beijing.

According to the official, who speaks only on anonymity, the negotiation on the document has "reached the final phase".

The final version of the document would be adopted tomorrow after the delegations reported to their own countries, whereas agreements on the document would be probably reached among the delegations on Monday night, the official added.

The talks entered the fifth day on Monday with energy aid still as the focus of negotiations.

Envoys from China, the DPRK, the United States, the ROK, Japan and Russia reconvened the talks last Thursday in Beijing in the wake of a 48-day recess.

But the talks got blocked by the energy aid to the DPRK after the negotiators held consultations on a Chinese draft, which involves the moves the DPRK will take to abandon its nuclear program in return for economic aid and security guarantee.
