font size

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh met with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing here Wednesday, both appreciating the recent development of bilateral ties.

Li said that Sino-India relations have made considerable progress in the past few years.

The two countries formed a ten-point strategy to deepen the strategic and cooperative partnership when Chinese President Hu Jintao visited India last November. And they also reached important common understanding on improving cooperation in the recent meeting between Singh and Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao in the Philippines, he said.

Li said that during this visit he aimed to implement the common understanding reached between the leaders.

China is willing to work with India to improve political mutual trust, expand cooperation in the practical manner and enhance coordination in international and regional issues, he said.

Singh thought positively of the status quo of India-China relations saying that the cooperation between the two countries in all fields is heading for a positive direction and the two sides will keep working on that.

The improvement of India-China relations will benefit Asia and the world, the Prime Minister said.

Li has been in India for four-day visit since Sunday. On Wednesday he attended the trilateral meeting of Foreign Ministers of China, India and Russia.

Li also held bilateral talk with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov exchanging ideas about international and regional issues of common concerns.
