China calls for peaceful settlement of Iran nuclear issue
font size

China holds that relevant UN Security Council resolution should be conducive to peaceful settlement of the Iran nuclear issue through political and diplomatic means, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said Thursday.

It is reported that U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Nicholas Burns proposed new sanction resolution on the Iran nuclear program by the UN Security Council as Iran rejected the previous Resolution 1737.

Jiang said China hopes relevant parties take constructive measures and seek long-term, all-round and appropriate solutions to help resuming the negotiations on the Iran nuclear issue at an early date.

The top priority task at present is pulling Iran back to negotiations through more diplomatic efforts, she said.
