font size

At the end of 2006, the total assets of financial institutions in China's banking industry were worth more than 40 trillion yuan. According to information, the total value of China's financial assets, including that of the People's Bank of China, is close to 60 trillion yuan, jumping from 1 percent of the global total to 5 percent.

At the end of December, 2006, the accumulated foreign exchange of China's banks reached 43.9 trillion yuan. The total capital of the four key national commercial banks still comprises more than half that of all financial organizations, at nearly 51.3 percent. The capital quality of financial organizations has greatly improved from what it was five years ago. The non-performing loan balance of China's commercial banks is 1.25 trillion yuan, and the rate of non-performing loans has fallen to 7.09 percent.
